Sleepy

Spoiler alert: If you watch University Challenge, this post tells you who wins in the series that will be broadcast sometime in the new year!

I'm feeling really tired for some reason, so here's a quick wrap up of the weekend before I slink off to bed.

Saturday started by heading off to join the University Challenge audience at Granada Studios. We'd already seen the Manchester team trounch some southern pansies (Imperial College of Medicine) in the quarter finals on Friday, and this time they gave another lot from down south a good mauling, beating London Business School by 190 points, taking us into the finals. The last game was against Trinity College Cambridge and ended up being incredibly tense - [info]justine_metal at one point told me to calm down because I was getting far too worked up about the whole thing (I'm really competitive when it comes to any kind of game or quiz, as anyone who has played Monopoly or Risk against me will know all too well). Although we were down for the first half, Manchester stormed back to take the game and the series by 10 points. Well done to [info]auberius and everyone else on the Manchester team for showing Oxbridge that we can beat them at intellectual sports! I also managed to sneak into the Green Room afterwards, which is for team members only, but unfortunately everyone else also came in so security realised and asked us to leave (I bet we could have got away with it if there had only been a couple of us).

After University Challenge the Megs all went off to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. This was the first time I'd ever been out for a Chinese meal - I've had that sort of food before but only from takeaways or home made food. It was a lot better than I imagined, and the spare ribs that Paul, Dan and I shared were delicious. The good thing about Chinese is that the restaurants seem to encourage sharing meals, so you can try a bit of everything rather than just one particular dish. It was about the same price as going out for a curry and a thoroughly nice meal overall. After that we went to the Beer House and got rather drunk, although even though we'd eaten we all felt very tired by about 10pm for some reason so we left earlier than we otherwise would. Walking back we somehow went past Afflecks Palace and there was a club entrance there which I'm sure I've never seen before.

As for today, I've not done much really. I spent most of the morning in bed catching up on the sleep I've missed this week and most of the afternoon surfing the Internet. I have managed to send off most of the emails I needed to do though, including one to organise an interview about my third year project, the Megs and Warped events for next week and I've booked a room for the CompSoc AGM so that's one less thing to worry about. I also got complimented on my writing which I was happy about. :)

Anyway, I really am tired now so I'm off to read a bit of Lord of the Rings before going to bed. Tomorrow I have work, although that's a good thing as it forces me to get up early, and it's Silly Games at Warped which should be, erm, "fun".

Could getting drunk have something to do with being tired?

Ah,see I've seen the entrance but I've never seen the thing actually open.

Not really, we normally last longer than 10pm! I think it was probably a case of us having a large meal followed by alcohol and we'd been on our feet for most of the day. *plays the sympathy card*

I wish I had that luxury. :(
